Aino Peltonen is a Doctoral Researcher and University Teacher at the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu. She is a key member of the DigiWellbeing research group, where her work focuses on digital well-being, mental health, and health promotion, particularly in young populations.
Research Interests:
Digital well-being, health promotion, mental well-being, public health, nursing, and the effects of digital media on youth. Her research integrates preventive strategies and digital interventions to enhance well-being and academic outcomes.
Projects:
She is actively involved in several projects including:
- UnLogged – Developing and evaluating a preventive intervention for adolescents' digital well-being.
- MILAVA (ESF+) – Promoting fathers' well-being, participation, and parental equality.
- DIGI-HYVE – Advancing digital well-being competence in schools.
Scientific Contributions:
- Developing the DigiWell Instrument to assess digital well-being with validated psychometric properties.
- Utilizing data from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort (NFBC1986) in her research on problematic Internet use.
Education and Background:
Holds a Master of Health Sciences (MHSc). Her thesis analyzed risk profiles of problematic Internet use among young adults using longitudinal cohort data. Currently completing her doctoral dissertation connected to the UnLogged project.
Additional Roles:
She works as a specialist in the MILAVA and UnLogged projects, combining research, intervention development, and health promotion practice.
