Kristóf Nagy is an Assistant Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (Faculty of Pedagogy) and a Research Fellow at the Central European Research Institute for Art History (KEMKI). In the 2025/2026 academic year, he will serve as a Fung Global Fellow at Princeton University. He holds a PhD from Central European University (Budapest/Vienna) and has held roles such as Research Department member at the Central European University and part of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
His research focuses on cultural policy, post-socialist transformations, authoritarianism, and Hungarian art history. Key interests include the dynamics of civil society under authoritarian regimes, property struggles in cultural institutions, and the intersection of cultural production with political economy. He has explored topics like the Orbán regime's cultural flagship institutions, precarity in artistic careers, and the legacy of socialist-era artistic groups such as Orfeo and Inconnu.
His publications span peer-reviewed articles in journals like *Comparativ* and *Hungarian Studies Review*, edited volumes, and book chapters. His work bridges historical sociology, art history, and political analysis, emphasizing materialist frameworks to understand cultural shifts.
