Kris Kasianovitz is a Lecturer at the School of Information, San José State University, and serves as the Director of the Institute of Governmental Studies Library at the University of California, Berkeley (2022–present). Previously, she was the Government Information Librarian at Stanford University Libraries (2011–2022) and held roles at UCLA’s Young Research Library (2001–2011) as a Government and Map/GIS Librarian.

Her research and professional interests center on government information, digital libraries, web archiving, research data management, and copyright. She has contributed to major initiatives such as the CA.gov Web Archive and the Bay Area Governments Web Archive, focusing on preserving born-digital government content. Her work bridges librarianship, public policy, and digital preservation.
Her recent publications reflect a strong trend in digital information policy, data ethics, and the challenges of preserving e-government outputs. She explores how digital transformation affects access, ownership, and long-term stewardship of public information.

Kasianovitz has taught INFO 221 – Government Information Sources at SJSU. While not a full-time faculty member, she plays a significant role in educating future information professionals.
