Konrad Burchard Burchardi is a Professor of Economics at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES), Stockholm University. His research focuses on economic growth, social structure's role in development, and resource misallocation in developing economies. He has contributed to understanding migration, innovation, and institutional impacts on economic outcomes through theoretical and empirical studies.
His work examines topics such as diaspora networks, borrowing constraints in education, and experimental evidence on tenancy contracts. He has published in top journals like the American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Review of Economic Studies. Current projects include studies on market integration, financial inclusion, and language heterogeneity in structural change.
Burchardi has taught advanced courses in development economics, econometrics, and experimental economics at the PhD level. He is affiliated with the Association of Swedish Development Economists, promoting academic exchange in development economics.
