Komali Yenneti is a Lecturer in Geography, Urban Planning, and Environment at the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Wolverhampton. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the Australia-India Institute and the founding Chair of the International Geographical Union’s Young and Early-Career Geographers Task Force (IGU-YECG). Her interdisciplinary research spans urban sustainability, climate change, energy justice, and smart cities.
Her research interests focus on:
- Urban heat vulnerability and mitigation
- Energy poverty and transitions
- Climate change adaptation in cities
- Policy and politics of renewable energy
- Social justice in urban and environmental planning
- Smart and sustainable urban development
Her recent publications reveal a strong trend in interdisciplinary urban sustainability research, combining environmental science, policy analysis, and social justice. Articles examine climate resilience in Australia, energy poverty in India, urban heat mitigation technologies, and spatial disparities in urban poverty. Her work frequently integrates empirical data with policy implications, especially in the Global South.

Dr. Yenneti has secured research grants from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and CRC for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL). She has collaborated with over 25 government and industry partners globally, including City of Sydney, NSW Department of Planning, and Mahindra Life Spaces. She mentors early-career researchers through IGU-YECG and has organized numerous international workshops and conference sessions.
She leads research initiatives on climate-smart cities and energy transitions, and has organized knowledge exchange workshops with UNSW, TERI, and ASCI. She also serves on the editorial board of Sustinere: Journal of Environment & Sustainability and frequently reviews for international journals.
