معرفی
Deo Prasad AO FTSE is a Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) School of Built Environment, where he has been a leading academic for over 28 years. As CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL), he oversees Australia's largest industry-government-research collaboration in sustainable built environments. His pioneering work includes developing the first Master in Sustainable Built Environments program in the Southern Hemisphere.
Education includes:
- B.Arch (University of Auckland, 1979)
- M.Arch (UNSW, sustainable building simulation, 1987)
- M.Sc (UNSW, Project Management, 1988)
- PhD (UNSW, Heat transfer in buildings, 1992)
Research focuses on sustainable buildings and cities, with emphasis on renewable energy integration, low-carbon transitions, urban heat mitigation, and climate-responsive design. His work advances building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), energy efficiency, and regenerative urban development through interdisciplinary approaches.
Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on climate resilience in built environments, with recurring themes of net-zero transitions, photovoltaic-thermoelectric systems, urban cooling strategies, and sustainable community development. The research consistently integrates technical innovation with practical policy applications.
Major scientific awards include:
- Officer of the Order of Australia (2014)
- Fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Sciences (2014)
- Fellow of Royal Australian Institute of Architects (1991)
- UNSW Outstanding Alumni Award (2014)
- NSW GreenGlobe Award (2004)
- Federal Energy Research Award
Has supervised 100+ Master's and 30+ PhD students, with alumni in global leadership positions. Leads the CRCLCL involving 5 universities, CSIRO and 45+ industry partners. Established the SOLARCH research group and directs projects like the Cooling Sydney Strategy, focusing on practical implementation of sustainable solutions.
