Komal Aryal is a Lecturer in Crisis and Disaster Management at Aston University's Aston Business School (College of Business and Social Sciences). Her research focuses on multidimensional risk analysis, collaborative governance for disaster resilience, and technological innovations in crisis management. She holds a PhD from the University of Northumbria Newcastle, specializing in disaster vulnerability in Nepal.
Dr. Aryal teaches advanced modules including Global Risk and Resilience Management, Crisis Technology and Analytics, and leads the MSc Crisis and Disaster Management program. Her research projects include ESRC-funded studies on Southeast Asian disaster regimes and UKRI-NERC initiatives enhancing earthquake resilience in India.
Her work bridges theoretical and practical aspects of disaster response, emphasizing marginalized communities and humanitarian safety. Recent articles highlight innovations like mixed-reality systems for emergency management and AI-driven risk assessment models.
