Koji Hirano is an Instructor in the Phillip M. Drayer Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lamar University, where he has taught courses such as 'Introduction to Computers & Programming' (ELEN1301) since 2007 and 'Circuits I' (ELEN2411) since 2013. He previously taught at the University of Central Florida and University of Florida from 1997 to 2003.

His research focuses on memristor technology and its applications in signal processing, circuits design, and systems engineering. Recent publications highlight memristor's role as the fourth fundamental electrical element and its integration into computational systems.
Scientific recognition includes the 'GTA of the Semester' award at the University of Central Florida (1997), and inclusion in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges (1998, 2011). He has been a member of IEEE since 2007 and served as Treasurer for the IEEE Region 5, Beaumont Section since 2009.
