Koh Chien Aun is an Assistant Lecturer (Education Focused) in the School of Arts & Social Sciences at Monash University Malaysia, where he teaches Global Studies. He has been actively involved in teaching since 2014, initially as sessional staff, and currently supports first-year instruction in the Global Studies major. He previously taught at Sunway University’s School of Arts in 2017 and delivered courses in the Monash Foundation Year (MUFY) from 2019 to 2022.
His academic qualifications include a Master of Arts (MA) in Arts, with research on Malaysian history textbooks and national identity formation, and a BA (Hons) in Arts and Social Sciences (Global Studies). His scholarly interests lie in Malaysian identity politics, the history of political thought, and Asian media and cultural studies.
His recent publications focus on conceptual shifts in political language and electoral dynamics in Malaysia. These works reflect a broader engagement with identity, governance, and political narratives in Southeast Asia. His research is increasingly oriented toward public diplomacy, particularly in digital contexts between Korea and Southeast Asia.
He is a Chief Investigator on the active research project 'Digital Technologies as a New Agenda and Mediator of Public Diplomacy: Fostering Korea-Southeast Asia Collaboration' (2025). He has also participated in multiple academic events as a speaker and organizer, including conferences on digital public diplomacy and mediated Asian connections.
