Kofi Sarfo

Kofi Sarfo is an Assistant Professor of Animation & Game Arts at Moore College of Art & Design, appointed to a full-time position starting in Fall 2023. He teaches in the Animation & Game Arts department, fostering a creative and relaxed learning environment that encourages student expression and experimentation.

His research and creative interests center around animation, game arts, character design, and digital storytelling. Inspired by artists like Akira Toriyama and childhood cartoons, Kofi emphasizes culturally relevant narratives and expressive movement in animated works. He believes in a collaborative and stress-free classroom, often using LoFi Hip Hop music and physical acting to help students capture authentic motion.

Professionally, Kofi takes pride in his contribution to the Netflix animated short Cops and Robbers and in animating a marriage proposal that ended in a successful engagement. His teaching philosophy values creativity across disciplines, drawing inspiration from music, floral design, and interior design.

Kofi also enjoys building computers as a personal hobby, showcasing his technical interest alongside his artistic practice. Though no formal awards or publications are mentioned, his work reflects a strong commitment to meaningful storytelling and inclusive representation in animation.

In his vision for Moore, he humorously suggests a Wawa sandwich as the school mascot, highlighting his connection to Philadelphia and the diverse identity of the institution.
