Kofi Asare-Addo

Kofi Asare-Addo is a Reader in Pharmaceutics at the University of Huddersfield's School of Applied Sciences. He is a member of the Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Centre and an associate member of the Biopolymer Research Centre. He holds a PhD from the Medway School of Pharmacy, University of Kent (2012), completed through an Industrial CASE studentship with Colorcon. His research focuses on UV imaging, complexations, solubility enhancements, and drug delivery systems, with contributions to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.

Education: PhD in Pharmaceutics (Medway School of Pharmacy, University of Kent, 2012). Industrial CASE studentship with Colorcon. Postdoctoral roles at the University of Huddersfield included Research Assistant, Research Fellow, and Senior Lecturer before his current position. He became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2014.

Research Interests: UV dissolution imaging, hydrogel matrices, nanoparticle drug delivery systems, and advanced pharmaceutical formulations. His work spans nanotechnology, 3D printing in drug delivery, and biopolymer applications. Recent studies emphasize smart hydrogels, nasal drug delivery, and multi-responsive in-situ systems.

Scientific Awards: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2014).

Advising and Grants: Supervised 10 PhD projects and served as an external examiner at universities like Sheffield Hallam and Durham. Collaborates with pharmaceutical industries and global academic institutions. Active in editorial roles and professional networks like the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
