Dr Klearchos Kyriakides is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the School of Law, UCLan Cyprus. He holds a PhD in History (University of Cambridge), MPhil in International Relations (University of Cambridge), and LLB (University of Birmingham). As a qualified Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, he combines legal practice with academic expertise. His roles include Deputy Head of School (2019–2021), Assistant Professor (2015–2021), and Senior Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire (2004–2015).
Research focuses on democracy, rule of law, Cypriot constitutional history, international humanitarian law, and professional ethics. Notable contributions include critiques of colonial constitutional frameworks and analyses of legal officers’ roles in governance. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to parliamentary inquiries on Brexit and EU negotiations.
Awards include the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Community Engagement (2014). His advisory roles span academic events, CPD courses, and research initiatives like the Rule of Law Monitoring Mechanism. He supervises PhD projects and has examined theses across multiple universities.
Professional memberships include the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and the Society for Modern Greek Studies. He actively contributes to legal education through module leadership (e.g., Public Law, Legal Research) and co-ordinates mooting competitions.
