معرفی
Klaus Pfeffer is a Full Professor (W3/C4) and Director of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, where he leads research on antimicrobial immunity. His group focuses on IFN-induced GTPases (mGBPs) and their role in combating intracellular pathogens like Toxoplasma gondii, Listeria, and Chlamydia using molecular biology, confocal microscopy, and genetically modified mouse models. Additional research examines lymphotoxin receptor signaling in immune defense and microbiome analysis via whole-genome sequencing.
Education & Career:
• Medical degree (1987) and Dr. med. (1988) from University of Ulm
• Habilitation in Microbiology/Immunology (1996) at Technical University of Munich
• Full professorship at HHU Düsseldorf since 2002
Key Research Areas:
• Molecular mechanisms of IFN-induced GTPases in pathogen control
• Lymphotoxin β receptor signaling in infection defense
