Klaus C. Yoder is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Religion at Vassar College, where he has been since 2017. His research focuses on the history of Christian theology, spirituality, and ethics, particularly exploring how post-Protestant Reformation Christians developed insights into performance, rhetoric, the body, and worship practices. He holds a BA from Ursinus College and advanced degrees (MTS, THD) from Harvard University.
Yoder teaches courses such as RELI 183: Christian Theology and the Body and RELI 256: Theology of the Prison. He is also co-host of the podcast Seven Heads, Ten Horns: The History of the Devil, analyzing theological and cultural representations of the devil. His work has been featured on NPR’s It’s Been a Minute, discussing the devil’s symbolism in popular culture and horror tropes.
Yoder’s research includes archival studies of sixteenth-century primary sources, conducted during a year as a guest student at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. His scholarly contributions bridge medieval religious history with contemporary theological discourse, emphasizing the interplay between religious practices and societal anxieties.
