معرفی
Dr. Kishore Pasumarthi is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on myocardial repair, cardiac progenitor cell biology, and cell cycle regulation in heart disease. He holds a BVSc & AH from SV Veterinary University, MVSc from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, PhD from the University of Manitoba, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Indiana University School of Medicine.
- Education:
- BVSc & AH (SV Veterinary University)
- MVSc (Indian Veterinary Research Institute)
- PhD (University of Manitoba)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship (Indiana University School of Medicine)
His laboratory investigates strategies to promote cardiac tissue repair through progenitor cell transplantation and genetic/pharmacological interventions. Key research themes include cardiac fibrosis mechanisms, stem cell engraftment efficiency, and adrenergic receptor signaling's role in cardiac development and disease.
Recent research trends include studying sex-specific cardiac metabolism, mitochondrial dysfunction in mouse models, and the regulatory role of atrial natriuretic peptide pathways in embryonic heart development. His work bridges molecular mechanisms with translational therapies for myocardial injury.
- Scientific Awards:
- Dr. Greg Ferrier Award (Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia)
- Margaret Becklake Feature Symposium Award (ICRH-CIHR)
- American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship
As a graduate coordinator and course instructor (DENT 1117, PHAC 5626.03), Dr. Pasumarthi integrates research and education. His service includes roles on the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Scientific Review Committee and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada review panels.
His laboratory is affiliated with Dalhousie's Medical Research Foundation and collaborates on projects involving 3D cardiac tissue modeling and genetic cardiomyopathy research.
