Kirt Komocki is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Spanish at the University of Rochester, affiliated with the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures within the School of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD from The Ohio State University and focuses on language pedagogy, particularly in classroom transitions and contextualized lesson design to enhance second-language acquisition.
Education: PhD in Spanish from The Ohio State University.
Research interests include Spanish language instruction methodologies, Fulbright assessment strategies, and optimizing language placement processes. His teaching portfolio spans elementary through advanced Spanish courses, emphasizing practical communication skills.
Awarded the 2016 Professor of the Year in the Humanities by the University of Rochester Students’ Association Government.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as SP 101 (Elementary Spanish I), SP 152 (Intermediate Spanish II), and SP 200 (Advanced Spanish Composition). Office hours are held Monday/Wednesday 10-11 AM and by appointment in 427 Lattimore Hall.
