Kirstin Schulz serves as a Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin within the Computational Research in Ice and Ocean Systems Group, specializing in oceanographic processes with emphasis on the Arctic Ocean.

Dr. Schulz investigates small-scale mixing and transport mechanisms governing tracer distribution (e.g., sediments and nutrients) in polar oceans. Her work examines climate-driven alterations to Arctic mixing regimes, particularly along Siberian continental slopes and Greenland's tidewater glaciers, integrating observational data from global research expeditions with advanced computational modeling techniques.

She has contributed to major international initiatives including the UK-German PEANUTS project analyzing Arctic nutrient transport and the MOSAiC drift campaign aboard the Polarstern icebreaker. Field experience spans the Baltic Sea, Caribbean Sea, and Arctic Ocean, utilizing diverse oceanographic instrumentation.
