معرفی
Klaus Dethloff is a Professor at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), serving as Co-leader of the project coordination team for the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) expedition. He is recognized as the initiator and driving force behind MOSAiC, with primary focus on integrated measurements of the coupled Arctic system.
His research spans critical polar science disciplines, including:
- Arctic Climate dynamics and modeling
- Atmosphere-cryosphere interactions
- Sea ice thermodynamics and kinematics
- Arctic Ocean circulation
- Biogeochemical cycling in polar regions
- Arctic ecosystem responses to climate change
As MOSAiC's architect, Prof. Dethloff coordinates international efforts across distributed networks including the Polarstern icebreaker, on-ice camps, and remote sensing systems to capture comprehensive Arctic system behavior. His leadership emphasizes cross-disciplinary integration of atmosphere, sea ice, ocean, and biogeochemical data streams to address climate feedback mechanisms.
