Kirsten Sivesind is a Professor at the University of Oslo within the Faculty of Educational Sciences, specifically the Department of Education. Her research focuses on educational policy, curriculum history, and didactic issues, with a particular emphasis on Nordic educational systems and their international comparisons.

Her recent comparative studies analyze how international policies shape Nordic education systems, focusing on OECD knowledge transfer, temporary network organizations, and historical reform trajectories. She examines policy discourses through sociological, system-theoretical, and discursive-institutionalist lenses.
Kirsten leads the CLEG research group (Curriculum, Leadership, and Education Governance) and serves as PhD coordinator at the Department of Education. She also manages digitization of historical international school reports for research and teaching.
