Kirsten Macleod

Prof Kirsten Macleod is a Professor at the School of Arts and Creative Industries, Edinburgh Napier University, with a focus on film, gender, and social justice. She collaborates with the Centre for Child & Family Law and Policy and the Centre for Arts, Media and Culture, addressing issues like asylum seeker housing, gender equality, and community-based media.

• Research Interests: Documentary filmmaking, gender studies, human rights, migration, and educational practices.
• Key Projects: Co-led the TEMPACCO study on asylum accommodation, the Pacific Community Filmmaking Consortium for gender advocacy, and the Bleeding Free documentary on menstrual health.

Scientific Awards:

• Runner-up, Guardian University Awards (2020) for Bleeding Free.

• ESRC funding (£53,468) for pandemic-era asylum housing research.
