Hamish Macleod

Hamish Macleod serves as a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Fellow within the Institute for Education, Community and Society at the University of Edinburgh. He holds key teaching responsibilities as course leader for 'Understanding learning in the online environment' and 'Introduction to digital game-based learning', while also co-tutoring 'An introduction to digital environments for learning', 'Digital futures for learning', and 'Research Methods'. His academic contributions are deeply rooted in the exploration of digital pedagogies and their impact on contemporary education.

With an academic background spanning biology and psychology, Dr. Macleod has cultivated specialized expertise in educational technology. His research passionately investigates computer-mediated communications and game-informed approaches to enhance teaching and learning experiences. He examines how digital environments transform educational practices, focusing on online learning ecosystems and the integration of gaming principles into pedagogy.
