Kirk Denton is a Professor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The Ohio State University. His scholarship examines modern Chinese literature, historical memory, and museum representations in Greater China. He edits the journal Modern Chinese Literature and Culture and manages the MCLC Resource Center.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Modern Chinese Literature from University of Toronto (1988)
- M.A. in Chinese Literature from University of Toronto (1983)
Denton's research investigates the politics of historical representation in Chinese museums and memorial sites, analyzing how historical narratives are constructed through exhibitionary practices. His recent work explores the intersection of literary culture and commercial spaces in contemporary China.
He has held visiting professorships at Harvard University and National Chung-hsing University.
