Kiran Turaga, MD, MPH is Professor of Surgery (Oncology) and Division Chief of Surgical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine. He also serves as Assistant Medical Director for the Clinical Trials Office at Yale Cancer Center. Previously, he held leadership positions at the University of Chicago as Vice Chief of the Section of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology, Director of the Surgical Gastrointestinal Cancer Program, and Director of Regional Therapeutics.
Dr. Turaga's research focuses on developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics for oligometastatic cancer, with current clinical trials exploring the interface of immunotherapy and liquid biopsy in surgical cancer management. He also investigates how big data systems can optimize cost-effective patient care. His expertise includes gastrointestinal cancers, peritoneal surface malignancies, and regional perfusion techniques like hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).
His recent publications (2024-2025) primarily consist of consensus guidelines for managing various peritoneal surface malignancies, including appendiceal tumors, colorectal cancer with peritoneal metastases, gastric cancer with peritoneal metastases, and peritoneal mesothelioma. These publications reflect his leadership in establishing standardized approaches to complex cancer conditions.
