Dr. Kipp Pietrantonio is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and currently serves as Chief of Psychology for University Hospitals and Clinics. He oversees psychotherapy services across multiple clinical settings, including the Multispecialty Outpatient Clinic and pain management centers. His academic journey includes a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Grand Valley State University, a Master’s in Community Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota. His postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan further solidified his expertise in clinical and counseling psychology.
Dr. Pietrantonio’s research focuses on socioeconomic disparities, mental health among marginalized groups (particularly Latinx immigrants and first-generation students), and the psychological impacts of economic stressors. He has contributed to APA guidelines addressing low-income populations and spearheaded initiatives to improve access to mental health care for economically disadvantaged individuals.

Dr. Pietrantonio has held various administrative roles, such as Vice Chair of the Psychology Division Clinical Steering Committee and Training Coordinator for the Department of Psychiatry’s clinic. His work integrates clinical practice with advocacy, addressing systemic barriers faced by underserved communities.
