Dr. Kinnis Gosha serves as the Hortinius I. Chenault Endowed Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Computer Science Department at Morehouse College. He concurrently holds leadership roles as Executive Director of the Morehouse Center for Broadening Participation in Computing and Site Lead of the Morehouse Supercomputing Facility (since April 2024).
His research centers on Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC), with emphasis on retention strategies for Black students in computer science through virtual mentoring systems, data science curriculum integration, and ethical computing frameworks. Gosha founded the Black Issues in Computing Education (BICE) Symposium and leads NSF-funded initiatives targeting pipeline development from K-12 through doctoral pathways.
As a dedicated mentor, Gosha has guided 21 undergraduate researchers to pursue doctoral degrees in computing, with 26 peer-reviewed manuscripts co-authored by his undergraduate students since 2011. His $10+ million grant portfolio includes major awards like the $10.03M HBCU STEM Undergraduate Success Research Center (Co-PI) and $1.82M Institute for African Americans in Computing Sciences (PI).
Gosha directs the Morehouse Center for Broadening Participation in Computing and the NSF-funded Supercomputing Facility. He serves on the Computing Research Association's Executive Board and previously advised the NSF CISE Directorate through its Advisory Committee.
