Kingsley Celestine is a Research Fellow at the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS), University of Bayreuth. His work focuses on the intersection of media, politics, and conflict in Nigeria.
Research Interests: Politics and International Relations, Diplomacy, Journalism, Political Conflicts, Politics and Policies Integration, and Global Studies. His current project, Politics of the Unknown Gunmen: Television Reporting on Banditry in North-west Nigeria, critically examines the journalistic framing of violent conflicts through media terminology like 'unknown gunmen.' By applying theories of media framing, objectivity, and political conspiracy, he explores how Nigerian television houses narrate banditry and shape public perceptions.
Geographical Focus: Nigeria. This research bridges journalism studies, political science, and African studies, emphasizing the role of media in politicized conflicts.
