Kinga Zawada is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Toronto Metropolitan University. She specializes in French and Francophone theatre, representations of madness, theories of otherness in literary discourse, French gastronomy, and second language acquisition. Her work bridges literary analysis with cultural studies, emphasizing sociocultural competencies in language education.
Dr. Zawada holds a PhD and MA from the University of Toronto, and a BA from York University. She pursued part-time graduate studies in Second Language Acquisition and earned a Master’s in “Didactique des langues et cultures” from the University of Clermont-Ferrand in 2013.
Her research explores themes like madness in 20th-century theatre and the role of gastronomy in defining cultural identity. Recent work includes a co-edited collection analyzing gastronomy as a lens for understanding cultural otherness and its influence in literature and the arts.
