Dr. Kinga Duszyc is a Research Fellow/Senior Research Officer at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), The University of Queensland. She holds a PhD in Molecular Bioscience from UQ (2019) and specializes in epithelial biology, mechanotransduction, and apoptotic extrusion mechanisms. Her work focuses on understanding how mechanical forces regulate epithelial tissue integrity, particularly in response to apoptosis and cellular stress. Dr. Duszyc has contributed to studies on RhoA signaling pathways, focal adhesions, and the role of BECLIN-1 in maintaining gastrointestinal epithelial homeostasis.
Her research employs live imaging, molecular biology, and biophysical approaches to uncover how mechanical communication and cellular responses preserve tissue barriers. Collaborations with teams like those led by Prof. Alpha S. Yap highlight her interdisciplinary approach. Currently, she is investigating epithelial surveillance mechanisms against apoptosis through an NHMRC IDEAS Grant (2025–2028). Dr. Duszyc is actively involved in supervising students and remains available for academic mentorship.
