Kimiko Guthrie is a Lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Dance at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB), where she has taught since 2000. She holds an MFA in Dance/Choreography from Mills College. Guthrie is co-founder and co-artistic director of Dandelion Dancetheater, a performance collective active in the Bay Area and internationally. Her work spans choreography, performance, and interdisciplinary art, with residencies and grants from institutions like the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and Zellerbach Family Fund.
Her research and creative practice emphasize cultural expression through dance, with notable collaborations including assisting Margaret Jenkins Dance Company in Tokyo. Guthrie has performed with Bay Area companies and choreographed for venues such as CSUEB and California Shakespeare Festival. Her writing appears in Intersecting Circles, an anthology by Bamboo Ridge Press.
