Kimberly Stegmaier, MD, is Chair of the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Associate Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital, and David G. Nathan Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on precision pediatric oncology, integrating genomic and chemical screening approaches to identify novel therapies for acute leukemias and pediatric solid tumors like Ewing sarcoma and neuroblastoma.
- Undergraduate: Duke University
- Medical Degree: Harvard Medical School
- Residency/Fellowship: Boston Children’s Hospital/Dana-Farber
Her work centers on targeting fusion oncoproteins (e.g., EWS/FLI, MYCN, NOTCH1) through functional genomic screening, kinase profiling, and chemical inhibition. Recent studies explore BET bromodomain inhibitors in neuroblastoma, CRISPR-based dependencies in AML, and synthetic lethal interactions in Ewing sarcoma.
Key awards include the Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award (2014), SU2C Innovative Research Grant (2009), and membership in the American Society for Clinical Investigation (2009). Her research has translated into clinical trials for AML and Ewing sarcoma, with BET inhibitors under development for MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma.
