Kimberly M. Bridges

Dr. Kimberly M. Bridges is an Associate Professor and Ed.D. Co-Coordinator in Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. She holds an Ed.L.D. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, M.Ed. from University of Richmond, and B.A. from University of Virginia. Her research examines sustainable K-12 improvement through effective leadership, state/local policy, diversity/equity initiatives, and cross-sector collaboration.

Bridges has extensive experience in education policy and governance, having served as senior facilitator for Harvard's Public Education Leadership Project, senior policy analyst for Virginia Department of Education, and chair of Richmond Public School Board (2007-2012). Her publications focus on governance changes in school districts, legal enforcement of school integration, and demographic adaptation in suburban schools.

Current research projects include developing coordinated Out-of-School-Time systems for Richmond students and examining governance models for district improvement. She brings practical experience in applying research to real-world political and organizational challenges in K-12 education.
