Kimberly Khare is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music. She is also a certified Nordoff-Robbins music therapist and has served as the Director of Music Therapy for the Community Music Center of Boston for 12 years.
- Education: Master of Arts (MA) in Music Therapy from New York University (1995).
Her research focuses on music-centered approaches to therapy, emphasizing clinical improvisation, therapeutic relationships, and the integration of musicianship and empathy in patient care. She has developed a "clinical music" curriculum and provided national workshops on clinical guitar work, exploring how rhythmic stability and creativity impact therapeutic outcomes.
Kimberly has published on the supervision of clinical improvisation and received the New England Region of the American Music Therapy Association's Presidential Award for Excellence in Service and Development of Music Therapy in 2000 and 2006. She actively contributes to the field as a guitarist and arranger for the family band CONNECT 3, which serves families with special needs or life-threatening illnesses.
