Kimberly J Young is a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism at The College at Brockport, part of the SUNY system. With a background as an award-winning journalist, she transitioned to academia to mentor future storytellers. Her research focuses on journalism ethics, civic journalism, gender representations, and media sociology. She holds a BA and MA in Communication Studies from SUNY Oswego and Edinboro University, respectively, and is a PhD candidate in Rhetorical Studies at Duquesne University.

Her specialties include multimedia journalism, political reporting, and solutions journalism. She advises The Stylus and Talon Television, coordinates the Journalism Department Internship program, and teaches courses like Mobile Journalism and TV News Producing. Outside academia, she focuses on storytelling’s societal impact and enjoys reading, writing, and travel.
