Kimberly Davis, MD, MBA, FACS, FCCM, is Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine and Chief of the Division of General Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. She serves as Trauma Medical Director for Yale New Haven Hospital, an American College of Surgeons verified Level One Trauma Center, and as Surgical Director of Quality and Performance Improvement for Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Davis leads a team of 10 surgeons and has performed thousands of operations throughout her career.

Dr. Davis received her BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in 1985, her MD from Albany Medical College in 1991, completed her surgical residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in 1996, and a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at the University of Tennessee - Memphis in 1998. In 2012, she earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management Leadership in Healthcare program.
Her research focuses on performance improvement and quality metrics in trauma and acute care surgery, with significant contributions to understanding healthcare disparities and outcome assessment. Dr. Davis has published extensively in medical literature, with over 200 peer-reviewed publications. Her recent work demonstrates strong emphasis on value-based healthcare, financial toxicity in surgical patients, geriatric trauma care, and optimizing surgical decision-making processes across various conditions including appendicitis, diverticulitis, and trauma management.
Dr. Davis has served in numerous leadership positions including President of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Secretary of the Western Trauma Association, and Past-President of the Connecticut chapter of the American College of Surgeons. She is currently President-elect of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. Her editorial contributions include serving as Associate Editor of Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Open and on the editorial boards of several major surgical journals including Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Annals of Surgery.

Dr. Davis also serves on the National Committee on Trauma and has held various positions with the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons since 2008.
