Kimberly Cote is a Professor in the Psychology Department at Brock University and Director of the Brock University Sleep Laboratory. She holds degrees from Brock University (B.A. Psychology, 1993), the University of Toronto (M.Sc. Medical Science, 1995), and the University of Ottawa (Ph.D. Experimental Psychology, 1999). Her research focuses on human sleep neurophysiology, particularly the effects of sleep deprivation on cognitive performance, emotion regulation, and brain function. Key methodologies include EEG, ERP, and topographic analysis of sleep-related neural activity.
Dr. Cote’s work has been funded by grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and others. She has received the Premier’s Research Excellence Award (2004). Her lab investigates sleep disruptions in aging, insomnia, and the role of sleep in memory consolidation. Courses taught include Sleep & Wakefulness, Drugs and Behaviour, and Human Psychophysiology. She is affiliated with the Canadian Sleep Society and Sleep Research Society.
