Kimberly Calderwood is a Full Professor at Trent University's Department of Social Work, based in the Durham GTA/Oshawa campus. She holds a BA from Waterloo, an MSW from Wilfrid Laurier, a PhD from Toronto, and a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Trent. With over 30 years of practice in social work, she specializes in addiction, mental health, bereavement, and trauma. Her research emphasizes anti-oppressive direct practice, bereavement processes, and innovative social work education methods.
Her teaching focuses on research methods, linking theory to practice, and leadership. Notable contributions include co-authoring Re-search Methods in Social Work (2024) and developing micro-skills curricula for helping professions. Awards include multiple nominations for educational leadership and teaching excellence at Trent University.
