Dr. Kimberly Bowen is Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Utah's Asia Campus, specializing in social and health psychology. Her research program examines how social relationships influence physiological processes and health outcomes across cultural contexts.
Bowen investigates pathways linking relationship quality to cardiovascular health, immune function, and sleep quality, with particular focus on cross-cultural differences in social support mechanisms. Her work employs ambulatory monitoring, physiological assessment, and daily diary methods to capture real-world social interactions.
She has received several awards including an NSF fellowship for cross-cultural research in Japan and an APA Division 38 award. Current projects explore cultural variations in social support appraisal and its health implications.
