Kimberly A. Scott is a Professor in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University (ASU) and founding Executive Director of ASU’s Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology (CGEST). She is also an affiliate faculty member at George Mason University’s Center for Digital Media Innovation and Diversity. Scott’s interdisciplinary work focuses on girls of color (African American, Native American, Latina) in STEM fields, examining their social and academic development through culturally responsive computing and digital media.

Her research explores techno-social innovation, digital equity, and culturally responsive pedagogy for marginalized girls. She has secured over $9 million in grants from organizations like the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Gates Foundation, leading projects such as COMPUGIRLS and the Culturally Responsive Co-Robotics Program. Her recent refereed publications analyze intersectional frameworks in technology education and self-efficacy in digital media use.
Scott has received numerous accolades, including the White House Champion of Change for STEM Access (2014) and the World Technology Award in Education (2016). She has advised over 30 graduate and postdoctoral fellows, including Stephen Elliott and Patricia Garcia, and authored/co-authored 50+ publications. As a Senior Global Futures Scientist, she contributes to ASU’s Global Futures Laboratory, advancing research on biodiversity and social outcomes.
