Kimberley Burden is an Adjunct Professor at Antioch University New England's Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Program. She is a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, Drama Therapist, Psychodramatist, and Registered Somatic Movement Educator/Therapist, with certifications in BodyMind Centering® and Kundalini Yoga. Her work integrates African Ifa/Orisha traditions, somatic practices, and expressive arts for therapeutic applications.
- Educational Background: MS in Applied Sports Science with Emphasis in Dance (Indiana University), MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling (Antioch University New England), BA in Vocal Music and Business (Butler University)
Her research explores the intersection of spirituality, rhythm, and somatic practices in healing, particularly through Ifa/Orisha ceremonial dance and Kestenberg Movement Profile. She investigates how these modalities support trauma recovery, affect regulation, and self-expression, with a focus on women’s issues, LGBTQ concerns, and developmental disabilities.
Kimberley has presented at conferences across the US, Canada, and the UK, emphasizing embodied approaches to therapy. Her teaching philosophy balances structure and spontaneity, influenced by yoga, meditation, and intersectional diversity themes.
