Kim Seonghoon is an Associate Professor of Economics at Singapore Management University's School of Economics and serves as Deputy Director of the Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA). He holds a PhD in Economics from The Ohio State University (2013), an MA from the same institution (2008), and a BA in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from Sogang University (2007).
His research spans health economics, labor economics, and public economics, with particular focus on how economic policies and shocks affect individual well-being and behavior. His work frequently employs large-scale datasets and quasi-experimental approaches to examine topics including health insurance impacts, income shocks, and policy evaluations.
Kim's recent publications demonstrate a strong empirical focus on Asian economies (particularly South Korea and Singapore) and health-related economic behaviors. His articles exhibit methodological diversity including randomized experiments, longitudinal analyses, and natural experiments leveraging policy changes. Current research streams address pandemic impacts, aging populations, and immigration perceptions.
