Kim Melanie Kraus is a Researcher at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University Hospital Rechts der Isar, Technical University of Munich. Her work focuses on advancing precision cancer treatments, particularly microbeam radiation therapy (MRT) and combined stereotactic lung radioimmunotherapy. She holds an Albrecht Struppler Clinician Scientist Fellowship (2022) and has been recognized with awards such as the 2023 DEGRO Innovation Prize and the 2022 ‘Young Scientists IO’ Award.
Education: She earned a PhD in Physics (2014) and MD (2018) from Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). Postdoctoral research (2014–2017) at DKFZ was followed by clinical training at TUM since 2019.
Research Interests: Reducing treatment side effects via machine learning and toxicity models, clinical translation of MRT, and optimizing radiation therapy techniques. Her collaboration with PD Dr. Stefan Bartzsch aims to develop compact MRT systems for widespread clinical use.
Publications highlight her contributions to treatment planning, toxicity correlation studies, and respiratory gating techniques. She actively contributes to advancing radiation oncology through interdisciplinary engineering and medical expertise.
