Kim McElroy

Kim McElroy is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Oklahoma City University. A native Oklahoman with Cherokee heritage, she holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. With 30 years of teaching experience, she specialized in elementary music education across New Mexico and Norman Public Schools before retiring in 2018.

• Certifications: National Board Certified, Kodaly Certified, Early Childhood Educator (K-3)

Her research interests focus on music's transformative impact on children facing adversity, particularly those affected by trauma and poverty. She advocates for music as essential to early childhood development, emphasizing its role in holistic education.

McElroy remains dedicated to music education advocacy, having presented at numerous conferences and workshops. She believes in lifelong learning, having pursued advanced training throughout her career to stay informed on pedagogical innovations.
