Kim Kierans is the Inglis Professor at King’s College, Dalhousie University, where she has taught broadcast journalism, media law, and ethics since 1997. She previously served as Vice-President of King’s (2010–2017) and Director of the School of Journalism (2003–2010). She is also a Senior Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto, where she mentors graduate students and hosts The JCR: A Massey Podcast. Her research focuses on community media, media ownership, and online learning pedagogy.
Education: BA (Honours Classics) from King’s/Dalhousie, MA (Atlantic Canada Studies) from Saint Mary’s University.
Recent Work: Published Journalism for the Public Good: The Michener Awards at 50 (2024, Bighorn Books). Co-authored Asia Media Innovators II (2010) and co-edited The New Journalist (2010). Produces audio documentaries for CBC programs like Ideas and The Current.
