She examines how concepts of home, domesticity, and national identity are negotiated in postcolonial contexts through literary analysis. Her work connects literary traditions with broader social issues including race, identity formation, citizenship, and resistance politics. She has made significant contributions to understanding oral culture in diaspora formation and the political dimensions of Caribbean poetry.
Her scholarly publications reveal a consistent trajectory exploring Caribbean literary representations in diasporic contexts, with particular attention to domestic spaces, national identity formation, and resistance narratives. Her recent work has expanded to consider pedagogical approaches and emotional dimensions of literary study.
Dr. Evelyn actively contributes to academic community through her service as advisor for the Bowie State University Nu Nu Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, where she mentors students and fosters excellence in English studies.
