Kim Delbaere

Professor Kim Delbaere is the Discipline Lead of Physiotherapy at the School of Health Sciences, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. She also serves as Senior Principal Research Scientist at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) and Director of Innovation & Translation at the Falls, Balance & Injury Research Centre.

Education:

• MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, Ghent University (2001)
• BSc in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, Ghent University (1999)

Her research program focuses on:

• Understanding fall risk through biomarkers like gait quality
• Developing digital tools for home/community use
• Testing interventions via clinical trials
• Implementing solutions in health systems with policy partnerships

She integrates digital health innovations into clinical practice through multidisciplinary collaborations.

• Fellow of Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (2024)
• Multiple NHMRC excellence awards (2012, 2015)

Her work has led to globally-adopted digital health interventions, cited in clinical guidelines and commercialized by industry leaders. She actively engages with policymakers and aged care providers to translate research into practice.
