Dr. Kim Bouwer is an Assistant Professor at Durham Law School and a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute, London School of Economics. Her expertise lies in climate change and environmental law, private law (torts), and climate litigation, with a focus on Africa and global comparative perspectives.

Dr. Bouwer’s recent work, including the 2024 article Conceptualizing just transition litigation, addresses the rise of climate litigation as a tool for systemic justice, with subfields spanning African environmental policy, human rights, and sustainability legal frameworks. She has also contributed to corporate climate litigation analysis in the UK.
