Kilian Simon Baumann

Prof. Dr. Kilian Simon Baumann serves as Acting Professor in Medical Physics specializing in particle therapy at the LSE Department of Central Hesse University of Applied Sciences, with joint appointments as Research Associate at the BioTechMed Competence Center, Institute for Medical Physics and Radiation Protection (IMPS), and Philipps University Marburg's Department of Radiotherapy. He also functions as Medical Physics Expert at the Marburg Ion Beam Therapy Center.

His research focuses on three interconnected domains: 1) Medical radiation physics and particle therapy optimization, 2) Advanced Monte Carlo simulations of radiation transport across macroscopic and microscopic scales, and 3) Precision dosimetry of ionizing radiation, particularly addressing lung tissue modulation effects. His work bridges computational physics with clinical applications to improve cancer treatment accuracy.

Publications demonstrate strong emphasis on Monte Carlo method development (FLUKA/GEANT4/TOPAS), proton/carbon therapy optimization, and experimental validation of radiation effects. Recent work explores magnetic field dosimetry, track structure simulations, and clinical translation of computational models.
