Dr. Kierstin Muroski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreting Education at RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). She directs the RITE Lab and created InterpNET, a comprehensive database of signed language interpreting resources. Her work focuses on interpreter education, curriculum design, and fostering inclusive academic practices. With 20 years of teaching experience, she integrates research into her courses like INTP-210 and INTP-460.
Dr. Muroski leads the RITE Lab, which investigates student/faculty development, teaching materials, and historical perspectives in interpreter education. Key projects include the InterpNET database (14,000+ resources) and undergraduate research initiatives such as feedback loop studies and prosodic marker analysis. Her team includes researchers like Lyn Eaton and Jaide Winant.
Her research explores first-generation student success, culturally responsive pedagogy, and deaf community advocacy. The RITE Lab's Think Tank program engages students in participatory action research, bridging academic inquiry with professional practice.
