Kiersten Garcia

Dr. Kiersten Garcia is Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at The Citadel's Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics. Her research program investigates blood and saliva-based biomarkers for mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and sub-concussive impacts, with emphasis on longitudinal tracking of biomarker profiles relative to symptom progression.

She previously developed TBI research programs at Carle Foundation Hospital after completing postdoctoral work at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Garcia also creates neuroscience outreach programs for underserved communities and holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Kansas.
