His work explores intersections of social exclusion theory, xenophobia, Ubuntu, and post-apartheid dynamics in the South African 'Rainbow Nation' context. He contributes to projects addressing continental open-border migration in Africa and supranational policy analysis.
His 2023 publication highlights applications of social exclusion theory to xenophobia, while his 2020 thesis critiques 'xenophobic' rhetoric. Current activities include conference presentations on discursive constructions of migration, seminars on religion and migration, and teaching courses like 'Religion, ethnicity and migration' (2024–2025).
Naik has participated in 22 activities (2019–2025), including organizing academic events and chairing Doktorandföreningen at Åbo Akademi in 2023. He also contributed to media discussions on social exclusion in working life (2020).
